As subtle as holding a mirror up to society and screaming, 'Patriarchy bad!' a lesson that is however, unfortunately still relevant today. Barbie is a fun-fuelled parade into the world of patriarchy and it's effects in the modern world.
Catchy songs and choreography set on the back drop of a convincing Barbieland makes for great entertainment, and with an important message that could have done with a lot more probing to really hit home. With some laughs falling flat, an all star cast manages to drive the plot forward with exceptional performances in spite of some misgivings.
