  3.5 hours and the screenplay fails to develop ANY character effectively. never seen a movie try so hard to be serious while saying so little.

  I can see how the director wanted it to be a deep meditation on trauma and art but it fails to understand the ethos of anything a character does and why they do it. Like the main theme is like every movie now… class divide. Why not talk about the Holocaust or antisemitism or addiction or…
