Blown away. Not much to say outside of the fact I cannot express how disappointed I am to have not seen this in theatres. So much to dissect and appreciate I don't know where to start.
Also, anyone who prefers the original over this is batshit imo. It definitely had its qualities and is rightfully hailed for its innovation...but this is an improvement on all fronts (for the most part) by a landslide.
After years and years of wanting to watch this, I finally did. The Fountain seemed a bit too convoluted at times but what the film ultimately underscores as a message is crystal clear and beautiful.
Too much to say. Too many personal memories stirred. Profound in the most grotesque and depressing manner possible. I probably won't ever watch it again. Not because it isn't spectacular, but because one time may be all I can handle. Ruthless, unforgiving and real.
