Awakenings 1990
such a human movie. i especially love the first act where robin williams' character is so intrigued and invested in finding out how his patients see and experience the world. it encourages us so directly to empathize with others, especially the disabled (whose humanity and inner life is so often dismissed)
i can't decide if the movie is a bit too sweet and hollywood with it's characters, everyone is so nice and well-meaning. maybe i'll just let myself enjoy a story about people who care and love<3
