This was a visually beautiful film, but I'm honestly baffled by the rave reviews it's received. The story was middling and the characters not great, especially Ryan Gosling's! If he hadn't been played by Ryan Gosling he would have been insufferable. The performances were competent but nothing that blew me away. So don't go in expecting too much.
