  A way better text than David Graeber’s bullshit jobs!!! So many great close up reaction shots. The bureaucracy stuff was so good mashed up with touches of the familial dynamics/sentimental humanity of Ozu, topped off with Kurosawa’s hot flashes of flawed humanity + madcap comedy.

  BIBLICAL! All I knew going into this film was that it was partly inspired by Andrew Wyeth’s painting ‘Christina’s World’ and that was enough to hook me. Have wanted to watch for so long but held off so I could see it for the first time at the cinema, and so glad I did. This restoration 🙏🏻 really sets it off wow. Not sure how they managed to film 70% of the scenes during golden hour; the beauty of this film…
