A Real Pain 2024
i really liked this film. it had an impact on me in a way films rarely do. a story of cousins who were close as children but now as adults, they struggle to grasp the nature of their relationship.
to me, the genius of this story revealed itself as the kaplan’s relationship slowly unravels over the course of their guided tour. the contents of the tour itself looms heavily on the viewers mind as well. possibly pointing out that the original roots of this families trauma might precede the existence of david and benji.
