I was sorely disappointed.
Plants so many seeds but does nothing with them. Felt like a miserable 16 year old Reddit edgelord trying to be clever and mansplain religion without making any real points.
Very blatantly directed by a man, I yearn for more backstory; MM does a great job with what she’s given but the final scene - which could’ve been devastating - lacks… a lot.
Despite being present in almost every shot we know virtually nothing about Anora, except that she’s hot, and for some reason incredibly naive to Vanya’s rich bitch boy schtick.
This was an enjoyable watch don’t get me wrong, but sitting in a theatre full of people laughing…
Uncanny as fuck. I have seen a lot of horror films and this is the first in a long time to thoroughly shake me. Utterly traumatising.
fucking genius, incredible humour, one of the funniest sex scenes I’ve ever seen. the joys of loving an artist eh!
