Alien essentially received The Force Awakens treatment, which makes for a movie that is fun to see in theaters but not particularly interesting.
boo to CGI Ian Holm, completely unnecessary—that role literally could’ve been any Synthetic. having that many aliens running around takes away a lot of tension, it’s just not personal! i always prefer when the alien is a guy/monster, not a force.
beautiful set design, i love seeing homey, clunky, lived-in ships. bjorn lighting his joint or whatever with the giant torch was a delightful touch. i’m glad facehuggers still look like they’re plastic props being pulled by fishing wire.
