  So much sex, no periods? I was waiting for any kind of realism within this film’s representation of female sexuality; perhaps my expectations were too high. Sex is not the ultimate form of female liberation, and judging by the film’s blindness towards this, it is glaringly obvious this was written by a man. This is not the ‘Female Frankenstein’ people claim it is, and I find it frightening that people are even able to liken the overarching messages of these two works. Truly horrifying, and not even in the way it was intended to be.
