    Scary Movie

There’s nothing better than laughing at clichés. This movie is a milestone in cinema and really knows how to make you laugh. Some jokes haven’t aged very well — like the case of Miss Mann — but it’s important to consider the time in which the movie was made and to understand that it’s all meant as a joke, not to offend anyone. I rewatched I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream this week before watching Scary Movie again, and I totally recommend it — the jokes are even funnier when those references are fresh in your mind.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

    ★★

"I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" doesn’t live up to the first movie. Ray’s behavior is annoying and unconvincing, making it hard to root for him. On top of that, the big plot twist around the name “Will Benson” is one of the worst and most forced puns ever—honestly, it feels insulting to the audience’s intelligence. The movie tries to keep the suspense and tension going, but it stumbles with several choices that hurt the story’s credibility.

I watched this movie some time ago. It was emotional, beautiful, and made me cry a lot. But I'm coming back today to say that seeing Fernanda Torres win the Golden Globe made me cry even more.
This movie is perfect at what it sets out to do, and Fernanda's performance is overwhelming, just like her mother's, who manages to be incredible without uttering a single word. If you haven't watched it yet, do it now! If you’ve already seen it, watch it again! (And then revisit Central Station to see where this talent comes from). I'm in love with the Fernandas.

    28 Weeks Later

    ★★★

I watched 28 Days Later and immediately followed it with 28 Weeks Later. The shift in genre is striking—the second film feels even more violent and somewhat overindulgent in the convenience of its plot.

For example, it just so happens that the mother of the kids who manage to break quarantine is the "special" one. The father isn’t, yet he has an extended presence in the film. And the helicopter scene—it’s almost embarrassing to watch
