  aghhhhh okay okay okay. 🥹

  what an absolute masterclass in storytelling. when we watch films we’re guided by standard “blatant” cues (whether narration or dialogue or what have you) that help drive the plot. we rely on characters to explain who they are - either through their own words or someone else’s, which is in combination with their actions - and all of that (+ some other stuff) makes a whole. as the audience, that’s what leads us to form…

  angelina jolie is genuinely incredible and there were so, so many gorgeous shots. it didn’t exactly hit every mark for me (for some reason?) but it was still a really nice film!

  i liked being able to slowly unravel what was happening throughout, given that i went into this blind - didn’t know much about Maria’s life outside of her being an opera singer. oh and everyone needs a bruna and ferruccio in their lives
