How can a piece of narrative entertainment go on for 7 hours while including almost no character development at all and remaining entirely superficial?
This is why TV just doesn't do it for me. In movies, events are permanent. Characters go through things which change them and which have a deeper meaning.
I couldn't possibly tell you what change made the protagonist go from a mentally ill addict to a put-together winner with self-control. It's an entirely unexplained change.
