CODA 2021
To be fair, this movie was extremely predictable, but I didn’t care because it hit on all of my personal most triggering tropes, as a choir girl who lost my father at a young age, I’m forever moved by sassy teachers who play the long game and father daughter relationship evolutions. But I found it to be a sweet, poignant story that was not only impactful in opening my eyes around logistical and discriminatory challenges for the deaf community faces but also family, coming of age, obligation, freedom, and community. Call me sappy, but I just loved it.
