After a slow start and a slow continuation you begin to feel more involved in the characters life than you would want to admit. You feel for both characters- the daughter and the dad, who learn how to navigate their relationship together and apart. Melancholy takes over. I couldn’t help but sit with my own memories for some time upon finishing the movie.
After the first 40 minutes of acclimatisation and subtle confusion, the story takes you away, and your heart with it too. An immaculate execution of character development, stretched across 2h40 minutes that fly by. Upon the ending scene you’re left if a heavy feeling in your stomach and surprisingly hope?
Ps: this is based on a memoir and if the movie had the same effect on you as it did on me, read the book and research real footage of the story, you won’t be disappointed
I loved all the shots from this movie, loved the colours, the interior design, the music and the books read by the characters. Loved to love and hate all the characters at the same time.
My favourite film ever. Probably watched it 10 times if not more. Many contextual layers. Beeaautifl animation
