My Bloody Valentine 1981
The Nova Scotian setting adds so much character to the film, especially when they easily could have set it in a generic suburban teen house party. It also stands out amongst other slashers of the era by having some of the most detailed and visceral practical effects featured in the uncut version.
The fact they went through the effort of having a ballad about the legend of Harry Warden composed for the credits roll really highlights the charm of this film.
