This film is a masterpiece. As such, it is one I have an incredibly hard time pairing with book suggestions. It's just so damn unique and heartbreaking, a live-wire of a viewing experience 20 years later.

Seeing "Girl, Interrupted" in theaters not only inspired high-school-freshman-me to embrace the manic pixie dream haircut, but really lean in to my Sylvia Plath-vibes reads. Lucky for you, not-so-lucky for my parents who had to put up with years of me wearing solely black velvet ankle-length skirts and charcoal eyeliner that always, always ran whenever I blinked.
