Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich (Malkovich)
Malkovich. Malkovich by Malkovich and Malkovich Malkovich where Malkovich a Malkovich-on-Malkovich Malkovich (Malkovich Malkovich). Malkovich upon a Malkovich Malkovich into the Malkovich of Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich, Malkovich to a Malkovich of Malkovich, Malkovich, and Malkovich Malkovich. FUCK.
The film isn’t objectively bad, just not for me. If you’re a teenager, or enjoy films like Bring it On, Clueless, or Mean Girls, you’ll absolutely love this. There’s a fun twist at the midpoint and there’s a lot of great comedic moments that land well. The cast is great and likable despite their grotesque behavior towards one another. At two hours, it’s a bit too long, making it a tough watch for anyone who isn’t interested in high school dramedies. Still, the film is consistently lighthearted and fun, and brings a fresh yet familiar take on late 90s/ y2k teen movies.
This re-released at my local theatre and I cried with 3 other strangers in the dark for 2hrs straight. This film is like a solanum dulcamara. Its flowers small but vibrant, plentiful, and beautiful. It’s fruit an alluring bright red, but extremely bitter to the tongue. Sing Sing is a meditation on systemic inequality, masculinity, kinship, and the art’s power to help us discover ourselves— our humanity.
