I do not love many things in life with such intensity as I do this film.

Here's to Emma Stone for taking home the Golden Globe for Best Actress (Poor Things) this year. She deserves it.

She also deserves the world for making me cry my eyes out in my dark room at 2.20am on a Thursday, for making me smile like an idiot everytime a musical number comes on in this film, and for making me fall in love with a new way to love upon every rewatch.

I'm revisiting this movie after what I think is 16 years. That's an entire lifetime ago. I was practically a baby.

But throughout the years, Before Sunrise has always stuck with me. My dad owned the CD and this was a very early introduction to my formulation of love as a concept. Exactly one year since my first watch. As iconic as ever! Possibly the greatest movie of the decade so far.

Watching this in IMAX was a spiritual experience. You truly feel like you're a part of the world thanks to such an amazing and well-rounded team both on and off screen. It's criminal that Austin Butler, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Timothee weren't nominated for what they achieved here.

And just like that, the challenge I gave myself to watch 366 movies across 366 days in 2024 comes to an end with 'The Beast'.

What a way to top off the year, because this was a visual and narrative treat with expertly maneuvered tonal shifts that are absurd, but not jarring.

It's a shame that this film and its cast aren't given the platform and recognition that many other (undeserving) films this year have been getting over the past few months, as we head into the Oscar season.
