  Notes
  - different film for past/present
  - enjoyed tzi mas performance, less on Christine Ko’s, made dialogue pretty flat
  - the scenes in 1950-60 Taiwan was refreshing, you don’t see that very often on screen, along with dialogue in Taiwanese
  - enjoyed the scenes of struggle of immigrant life in US as young couple. If I had watched in the mood for live I’d say the scenes in apartment is very similar with the red hues and off glances.

  I liked 
  - Brie freaking Larson
  - wow what a touching but not cliched story
  - the scene with the guys foster family 
  - all the children actors 
  - that last story and scene got me 
  - the buildup to the climax scene when she’s standing in the middle of the bedroom 

  What could have been improved
  - i felt claustrophobic with the filming maybe that was on purpose? 
  - rami Maleks character was pretty flat for the most part
