You need to know Jane Austen and Kate 90s early 20s rom coms to even be able to begin to comprehend this movie. When I was a youth I would have been pretentious and thought this movie was too silly and cliche. Now I love a good cliche. Jennifer Coolidge’s character was shameless but also refreshingly self aware. Just a Romantic that wanted a fun week being pretty. The main character was expected and her struggles were entertaining.

This movie exceeded my expectations. Jennifer Coolidge was the star of the movie which took me by surprise. I’d have thought that it would be that guy who said “chicken jockey”. The way that the nitwit villager learned to speak for the hot principle was so heart warming. It really shows that you can find love in the most unexpected places.

Fountain of Youth is just about exactly what I would expect from a treasure hunt movie. Nothing was spectacular or super deep but I can appreciate that. It was fun and expected. The tropes were all there and the acting was very good. It was refreshing that they didn’t try to reinvent the wheel.
