    Frida

    ★★★

Frida is an Inspiration, having suffered so much with the vessel she had been given, yet powered through in the face of adversity.

Sadly, it was quite disappointing to see that the majority of the film was based around her abusive husband and at times felt like it was told through his lens. Frida was more than just a ‘wife’, she was an incredibly talented Surrealist artist and a bi, feminist icon. She deserves better.

    Mickey 17

    ★★★½

I quite enjoyed Mickey 17, I do love a dystopian future, the dark satire and the social commentary on the state of the world as a reflection of the past, present and what’s to come hits that sweet spot for me.

I especially like how it balanced the serious repercussions of pushing the ethics of death with eccentric characters like Kenneth Marshall (Mark Ruffalo). The strong comparison to Trump was pretty satisfying, seeing a nonsensical babbling caricature failing at politics, couldn’t be anymore appropriate.

Extremely pretentious, obvious themes of distress after divorce/ cheating, female desire, God and some random bullshit thrown in for good measure.

Also horror? Really, more like 10% horror and 90% drama. The best scenes included the creature and I wish it had more air time.

Raw, emotional and psychological depiction of what it means to be human, well and truly deserved 5 star.
