i knew the premise of this film, but i wasn’t prepared . how heartbreaking, especially the fact that this happens in real life. the tree symbolism was beautiful. i loved watching mr. freeman slowly bring out the best in Melinda / her talent and watching her art as well as the ability to stand up for herself flourish throughout the film. beautifully heart wrenching
