I was fully expecting this to be super boring but I stuck it out for Stanley Tucci and it was worth it. The colors are all super rich and the costumes are really well crafted. The sets are beautiful. They did some really interesting stuff with the glasses and the symbolism there. They put on their glasses when they were doing some not allowed church shenanigans, and took them off when they were ready to be normal, even the dead…

This is by far my favorite Christmas movie of all time. First of all, the costumes. God bless Michael Kaplan for what he did here. The textures, silhouettes, the overall immaculate vibe of suburban family in the eighties done perfectly. The sets and set dec are utterly fantastic. It's such a lovely combination of absolutely ridiculous bullshit and the heartwarming cosiness of a classic Christmas movie.
