  The film starts strong, with the juxtaposed before-and-after scenes hooking me immediately. Unfortunately, my interest waned as Oldboy went on. I didn't care enough about the whos and whys to become invested in the cat-and-mouse game that followed Oh Dae-Su's imprisonment. Maybe my expectations are to blame. I thought the movie was going to spend a lot more time on his captivity. Still, the conclusion satisfied me, and I enjoyed my time with the film.
