My Old Ass 2024
One of the best coming of age movies I’ve seen in years. The fantastical premise is never explained and it doesn’t need it. It sounds like how real young adults are today which is so tough to nail. The lead, Maisy, did amazing.
The ending is perfect and brought me to tears. I actually laughed and cried—a lot—during this movie. Wish I had gone to see it in theaters.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
I’ve seen the old Mad Max movies but saw this before Fury Road. It loved every second of this love. I enjoyed reading The Odyssey so this kind of long journey trying to get home was right up my alley. Furiosa doesn’t speak a lot but makes a huge impact. Anya Taylor-Joy is amazing.

The ending is great but the entire way getting there was lacking in tension for me. And that’s really what I expected over any specific plot points. It spends too long at the concert without much happening. I found myself getting bored. The second half of better but still just seems to jump around in terms of tone and forward moving action.
