For starters, I'm a big fan of a good musical, and I'd heard of Wicked (the Broadway show), but that's where my familiarity ends. That being said, I found this to be just a little better than fine. There are a lot of songs in this movie that I found underwhelming, but the songs that DO hit, hit hard. I frequently started checking out and getting a bit bored, but then would get reeled back in by some absolutely fantastic and genuinely emotional moments between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
