At the same time, maybe because of this, it felt like it could have been set anywhere—there was nothing anchoring the film in Japan other than a few quick gags.     I spent so many hours as a really little girl listening to this movie soundtrack on the tape player in my mom’s car/house while I stared at the poster on its case, but somehow I’d never actually SEEN the film. (I have seen the stage musical.) There are few things that make me happier than the title number of this musical.
