Although I felt uncomfortable when the film showed the sexuality of Mathilda I still really liked the film.

The camera angles are staged with mainly medium and long shots. All the shots are framed horizontally and the camera seems to be handheld, which brought the audience closer to the characters in the story.

The story is detailed and believable because of the setup. It feels like it could happen in real life. The build-up between Pai and her grandfather is really well done. Even though the way Pai was treated is very traditional and cliche in lots of Asian stories, it makes the character more relatable.
