The ending of this film is fucking brilliant, no happy ending, it fits the theme of being trapped that we see throughout the movie so well. In the end, Frank has no more options, he’s fucked, and what happens next is up to the viewer to imagine. I loved the performances in this movie, there were some great and powerful monologues, especially in the final conversation between our suicidal newscaster and the corporate mogul. However I think this movie tries to pursue an A, B, and C plot all at the same time, and thus overextends itself. Th A plot follows Howard Beal as he goes from an embarrassment to the network, to a ratings opportunity, and back to an embarrassment as he lies on the ground…
