I kept laughing and then kept feeling bad about it. There is something admirable about its earnestness, like someone who wants so badly to inject nuance into the conversation but doesn’t have the intelligence or skill needed to properly articulate it. Pretty embarrassing either way.

It’s pretty obvious this was approved during the unlimited money era of streaming; it’s just way too good-looking while being ridiculously difficult to market (I.e. original IP, non-linear storytelling, etc.).
All things considered, it more than passes my “Won’t-Make-Your-Kid-Dumber.” Hey, it might even be good for them to see such a nuanced presentation of the way we view our own self differing from how we present to others. And controversy aside, this is still features the most mainstream representation of a trans child that I am personally aware of, even if it isn’t as groundbreaking as it was originally envisioned.
