As a huge fan of the orginal novel since its release in 2015, I LOVED this movie. It was a fantastic adaptation.
While it did have a significant number of changes to it, it didn't stop it from staying true to the orginal story. It hit every major mark, kept the meaning, and told the same story in a slightly different way. Solid movie. Not the greatest ending. Hindered by bad marketing and the twist revealed in the trailer.
Melissa Barrera is a bad actress, I could not get over her lack luster performance.Unsure of why they chose to end it the way they did? Personally I would have preferred if the father hadn't shown up, absent as usual. And possibly had Joey kill Abigail anyway, a sort of "fuck you".
Otherwise pretty good with the exception of a few odd choices here and there.
