A lot of jump scares, upside down drone shots, booming music, and body horror – many of the things which made the original Smile so unsettling. The lead goes through some genuinely horrifying moments, exacerbated by the scrutiny and loneliness of fame. However, like the first one, the movie is at its best when the evil is in human form, and cheap when the audience learns it is just a goofy CGI monster.

A slow paced, generally unfunny romcom which follows a philosophy/psychology professor moonlighting as an undercover cop*.
No matter how hard they try to make Powell seem like a meek, birding loser, he feels more believable as the charismatic action man.
Arjona was convincingly manic and unpredictable, an angle I wish the movie would've leaned into more.
Overall, the theme of "You can choose who you want to be!" felt ham-fisted and the pacing would have been improved by drastic pruning of filler scenes.
