I expected this movie to reignite my lifelong crush on Sandra Bullock, but instead it reignited my lifelong crush on Betty White.
This is a fun, entry level romcom - palatable for the romance film novice. Ryan Reynolds is funny and the premise is imaginative.
This movie has a few odd quirks: At one point, a dog gets carried off by a hawk, and Betty White performs a Native American ritual dance in the woods.
Packed to the brim with combat training montages, nonstop synth-wave, and lots of grunting, this film take you on a testosterone-fueled adventure into the 80’s underground Hong Kong fight scene.

This film takes you on an arduous 2 hour journey that slowly builds whilst barraging you with swells of tension - only to culminate with the male protagonist getting cucked in the end. 4/5 stars for reminding me of my last relationship.
This film was one of the sci-fi pioneers of the 80s and I can see why. It feels like a complete fever dream and never fails to charm my socks off.
In my opinion, this film is more captivating than its sequel, which I’m sure is a hot take. Warning: this movie may induce nightmares of a shirtless Rutger Hauer chasing you through a dilapidated building.
