The Last of the Line 1914
Like everyone else on this website I watch this movie because Martin Scorsese told me to. It's really, really good.
It's one of those silent movies that's 26 minutes long so when it's over you're like "Oh man I wish that was a whole feature-length movie. I'm ready for more -- they should remake this thing!" Dirty Harry 1971
A really good movie with 1 really good sequel, and then a bunch of increasingly more uncomfortably reactionary films, until the last one which is basically just "Grandpa with a gun" (and Jim Carrey is there for some reason).
But this one was good! Really fun in that gritty 70s action way.

The Ox-Bow Incident 1943
Holy crap what a picture. Riveting from start to finish -- and the characters! The CHARACTERS! Every single one so unique and well-defined in a way that felt ahead of it's time.
Of course I'm always "fond"a of the star Henry Fonda. But to be frank, it was Frank Conroy & Jane Darwell who did darn well as two of the detestable heels of the picture and stole the show.
And most of all hat tipper to Leigh Whipper -- he's so good in this movie and deserved more large parts than he got in his career.
