My interpretation for the ending:
They acknowledge what could’ve been if they had stayed together, but take the moment to appreciate what they left eachother with: they helped each other achieve their dreams. You can see in each of their gazes at the end of the scene that they’re thanking one another for what they’ve given eachother. And with that they will always carry a piece of one another with them, as they helped eachother realise their dreams, and get to where they are by the end.Really such an extraordinarily beautiful ending to an already amazing film.
