2046 2004
I’m very conflicted about this one. On the one hand, it is a gorgeous culmination of the previous two films in the informal trilogy, and has much of the same beautiful cinematography, score, and mood that is so quintessentially Wong Kar-Wai. On the other hand, it doesn’t quite hurt in the same ways that In the Mood for Love aches so spectacularly.

In the Mood for Love 2000
Still the only film I’ve ever rated 5 stars. Not sure if it’s because it feels like home, or because it’s simply the most beautiful film ever made, but I maintain that the personal bias doesn’t change the fact that WKW is an absolute master, as is Christopher Doyle.
