I really wanted to give cuties the benefit of the doubt after seeing all the social media backlash, I thought perhaps it was just bad/misleading marketing on netflix’s part, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

i think kids falls in the same realm as thirteen, dazed and confused, gummo, lilya 4ever, skins; and mid 90s takes directly from this movie.
i agree with reviewers calling it “dirty” “ugly” and “gritty”. but it was never overtly dark or uncomfortable to the point it felt unrealistic. it felt the exact opposite, honestly at times it felt like a documentary. i could genuinely envision real kids saying those lines and being those characters.
