I definitely have my nostalgia glasses on for this one. I personally love this movie the only thing I would change is I actually hate the romantic lead I think he’s really obnoxious. This movie should be remade but Julia Robert’s falls in love with a woman instead of this dude

Read the memoir this movie is based on and decided to take a star away. I think this movie kind of destroys a lot of what the author writes about specifically about apartheid and the loss he experiences with both his brother and his gay friend. Instead both of those relationships are erased (also completely changed the relationship he had with his dad??) I just feel like the book was so poetic and tragic and reading it it made me feel like they could have done A LOT better in translating it .
