Self Reliance 2023
This film is undeniable proof that Jake Johnson, even in the face of death, is lovable and hilarious.
The concept is fresh and original which makes for an entertaining and compelling directorial debut from Johnson. I think he pulled it off.
Self Reliance (also written by Johnson) is weird, quirky, dark and funny. But what I liked most about it was a street level cat, thrown into some absurd circumstances, having to make his way out. A story that is compelling but graspsable and finite. 90mins and out. My kinda film.

Sometimes a movie is so terrible that it has tremendous influence over you to talk about it incessantly. If nothing else it's a great conversation piece.
The production budget is reportedly $200 million. The running time is 151 minutes. That's an average cost of $1,324,503 per minute. The box office was $165.5 million.
By my calculations I would posit, this movie was approximately 26mins too long. This was confusing on many levels.
