This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I always remembered the ending to this Bond movie.
That he actually married one of the "Bond Girls" who was very much his equal and provided a great dynamic of her being a criminals daughter, but it was not to be for Bond, how could it be?
There lied the greatest implementation of pathos, that he can bed them, but could never truly be with them. Bond will always return, but must be unhindered by continuity.
With everything else being…
De Palma is self described as a "student of Hitchcock" others describe him as a "Hitchcock imitator"
We definitely wouldn't have De Palma without Hitchcock and we wouldn't have Obsession without Vertigo. Though to call this a ripoff is to undermine De Palma's own unique vision and style.
This is more of taking the influence and ideas and running with them to create something of their own.
