  Considering the book and its author, this movie had the potential to be an utter disaster. But it is masterfully done. Christy Hall’s screenplay and Justin Baldoni’s direction make this film both delicate and strong, handling a difficult topic with so much grace and care. 

  Although true to the book, I felt like a romance with Atlas was unnecessary and ultimately diluted the more important part of the movie. I think it would’ve been more powerful to focus on Ryle and Lily post break up and see what a healthy solution/growth/reconciliation to that relationship looks like.
