TLDR: slow start, but ended up nostalgic, funny
You can definitely tell this was made by John and Ryan for their daughters, but in a way that showed their own personality and peoples they were themselves growing up, while also connecting with the adult audience in reminding them of their own childhood. The only down side was the main girl’s acting and stilted interactions with the other actors, but I still left the theater feeling very warmed and good. I would definitely watch it again
