Ghost in the Shell 1995
5/5 but I think people give the director too much credit by saying that this is an exploration of gender. I feel like he mostly just wanted to draw boobs, and that the themes that can be read as gender coded are actually mostly literally about cyborgs and philosophy of mind. I wish this wasn’t the case, but I don’t know old male anime directors to be more interested in gender dynamics than space shit.
