Magazine Dreams is a raw and unflinching character study of Killian Maddox, a man trapped by his own isolation, unprocessed trauma, obsessive pursuit of bodybuilding, and extreme celebrity worship. Killian’s life revolves around caring for his elderly father and striving toward an unattainable ideal inspired by his celebrity idol. His journey is a descent into darkness, marked by substance abuse, societal rejection, and a painful inability to connect with the world around him.

Killian’s character is complex, he appears to…

This movie is best watched after viewing The Incredible Hulk, Eternals, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

At a minimum, “The Hulk” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is essential viewing.

The story itself is fairly generic, and the action is decent. What stood out most to me was the character interactions—Sam, Joaquin, Ross—and seeing how their arcs continue after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. These characters trajectory is intriguing because I’m already…

Garbage movie. It’s like Miller’s Girl, 365 Days, and Fifty Shades—all trash, and this is no different. Groups of femcels on X and TikTok are hyping it, but if the gender roles were reversed, critics would destroy it.

The main character exploits her power to take advantage of a younger person, muddying the concept of consent. If a 70-year-old male boss pursued a 21-year-old intern, even with consent, the power dynamic would be deemed inappropriate. Here, Samuel is framed as…

I’d rate it between 3.5 and 4, likely a 4 if I’d watched the sub. While creative, the story didn’t resonate, and the soundtrack was underwhelming. The highlight was the fantastic final 15 minutes, though the buildup fell short. Overall, above average but disappointing.

Gripes, while 2D scenes were gorgeously animated with great art style, I didn’t like the use of 3D cgi. These scenes stuck out like a sore thumb, such as the chair.

The dub VA did a solid job I don’t think she matched the character age that well, she sounded like someone in there 40s acting 19.
