  Although technically excellent, it feels like a miss by Eggers. It is a beautiful film, and the atmosphere was very immersive, especially in the lead up to the castle and the Orlok and Thomas' introduction, but overall it lacks character depth, which does not help or explain its long runtime. Moreover, the pacing was all over the place throughout the film after the castle scenes.
