  This film's a masterpiece, but I do think it's a bit of a shame that they chose not to include Mishima's actual final moments in it.
  Mishima longed for martyrdom, a beautiful death like that of Saint Sebastian, which would captivate future artists and thus capture Mishima's beauty eternally. If we only watched the film, we might be led to believe he succeeded; as he plunges the knife into his belly, it is intercut with shots of the Golden Pavillion…
