  I believe that there are essentially two types of filmmakers: those who cut their teeth in horror & those who try their hand at it.

  Perhaps Presence is a victim of its own marketing, assassinated by pull-quotes & heavily-edited trailers. The single-shot-shtick is a great selling point, & the camerawork is deservedly confident, but stiff acting & superficial dialogue stretch a one truly great moment of terror & dread into a feature film.

  Sometimes you forget how nasty this movie can be. It's wonderful to remember that this film ended up getting the attention it deserved.

  The budget may hold parts of this movie back, but it is un-de-niable that this guy knows how to use a camera.
