Memoirs of a Geisha 2005
honnestly felt like peak orientalism... i was so uncomfortable having to watch for so many minutes a shallow main female character whose sole motive was toward a man. a grown man she met as a child.
hated myself for loving the kabuki scene tho.
i suggest reading the manga Sakuran which makes a a much better, and much more respectful job at portraiying the life of a geisha challenged by her upgrowing love feelings. i have yet to watch the film adaptation tho.Translated from by
