Beautifully raw and endearing, yet heartbreaking.
These small-town characters trying to find purpose in the new capitalist consumer world, but are filled with a sense of hopelessness.
As they aimlessly cling to connection and understanding as a means for purpose, they dive deeper into their own darkness. It's beautifully painful to watch as they blend within the muted landscapes of desolation and freedom. A melancholic critique on modern rural America, and its people.
The poetic of nature and superb acting is what allows this film to still hold up in contemporary times, still finding relevancy within its core empathy.
